Resolved, that a committee be appointed to report on a plan for the introduction of g into the University, as contemplated in the resolution of the Board of Visitors, passed at their last meeting - The Chairman appointed Messrs. Minor(P22874), Rogers(P43678) & Courtenay(P43677) the Committee -

Mr. P. H. Hale(P29748), State Student from District No. 4 having resigned his right to complete the second year of the term for which he was appointed, and there being no applicant from the same district

Resolved, that Mr. W. M. Fisback(P44557) of Culpeper(PL4333) be appointed State Student for the fourth district for one year.

Mr. George W. Turpin(P44108) of Charlottesville(PL4204) , made application to have his son admitted in the University upon a credit for tuition fees of a month or six weeks -

Resolved, that Mr. Turpin(P44108) be granted a credit till Nov. 15th for the fees of his son, giving his bond for the amount -

The Secretary of the Parthenon Society having addressed a request to the Faculty to support their petition sent to the Executive Committee of the Board of Visitors for a separate room in which to hold their meetings

Resolved, that the Faculty express their decided conviction, that a suitable room granted to the Parthenon Society would be desirable for them and useful to the University.

That they therefore beg leave to suggest the expediency of providing or causing to be erected an additional room over the old Proctors Office, where the Parthenon Society - (formed last year inconsequence of the great increase of students) may hold their meetings.

Resolved, that is the opinion of the Faculty, that should the Counsel of the University agree, it is expedient to bring suit against the representatives of the late Mr.

The Royal Society of Northern Antiquariarians at Copenhagen having sent a parcel of printed matter to the University and invited their co-operation and assistance in publishing documents concerning the early history of the Northern British Isles() .

Resolved, that the acknowledgments of the University be presented to the R.S.N.A.

Resolved, that the Secretary of the. Faculty cause the University to be made an Associate of the British and Irish Section of the Royal Society of Northern Antiquaries of Copenhagen in conformity with the Program issued on the 26th of August 1851 and provide in the prescribed manner for the annual payment of $5 for seven years, as well as

for the safe transmission of said sum and application to Messrs. Boorman(), Johnson() & Co.() New York(PL4614) agents of said R.S.N.A.

Resolved, that the Secretary of the Faculty in his Official Communication to said Society, inform them of the readiness and determination of the Faculty to further the dissemination of the Article on The Discovery of America by the Northmen, published by the R.S.N.A.

The Chairman stated, that Arnold(P44555) who was appointed State student from Franklin(PL4369) District No. 24 came to the University some time after the commencement of the Session, and finding that he was unprepared to enter any of the Schools, returned home -

On Motion - Resolved, that it is the opinion of the Faculty that it is now too late in the session to make another appointment

The Faculty met December 18th 1852

Present all the members except Dr. Howard(P43670) & Dr. McGuffey(P43668) -

Mr. Minor(P22874) having laid a communication of Mr. Watson(), Senator from this district, before the Faculty, suggesting the expediency of asking the Legislature(CB0182) for an additional appropriation, if an additional number of State students should be sent to the University, and of establishing a Chair of Agriculture, supported by a grant of $5,000

Resolved, that the Faculty deem the establishment of such a Chair neither compatable with the pecuniary interests nor conducive to the furtherance of the true aims of the University, believing, also, that the ends to be obtained by such an extension of the course of instruction cannot be fulfulled -

Resolved, that Mr. Minor(P22874) be requestee to convey to Mr. Watson() the sentiments of the Faculty and beg him to communicate with the latter, before the subject will appear before the Legislature.

Mr. J. S. Moore(P24459) of S. C. on the 6th day of December was called home in consequence of the illness of his father,
