Uncovering the Front Door
Description:
This photograph, found in the Historic Structure Report for Pavilion VII, shows the original front door to the classroom portion of the Pavilion after it was uncovered in the latest renovation. When it was built, this central door was intended to be the entry points for students attending classes in the first floor classroom of the Pavilion. A separate door to the north of this one was intended for use by the resident professor to reach his apartment above. The door has always been visible from the exterior of the Pavilion but was walled in from the inside at some point in the past. The door is currently in place in Pavilion VII and is fully operable, yet all normal egress in and out of the Pavilion is done through the North door.
