JUEL ID/KEY: P47104
George, male (last name unknown), adult (presumably). He is mentioned several times in the Proctor's Daybook as being hired out to the university by owner Margaret Poindexter (P47092). On February 24, 1823, the Proctor recorded, "Labour acct. draft to bills payable for hire of negroes - to Margaret Poindexter for hire of Frank (P47103) $60 and George $58.50," for one year's hire. On January 1, 1824 is recorded, "To Margaret Poindexter for hire George," at $58.00. Finally, on April 8, 1825 is recorded, "Bills Payable for draft to H. Watson (P47102) for hire of George of Margaret Poindexter," also at $58.00. H. Watson was also involved in the hire of Lucy J. Poindexter's slave, Barrett (P47101).
