----, TOM
    by Julia Munro

JUEL ID/KEY: P47137
Tom (last name unknown), male, adult; he appears to have been owned by Clayton Carpenter (P47134) in 1822, and then John F. Carpenter (P47135) in 1823 (Clayton and John presumably being related). Tom is first mentioned in a September 3, 1822 entry in the Proctor's Daybook: "To Clayton Carpenter for hire of Tom $67.20," and then in a February 24, 1823 entry: "Labor acct. draft to A. J. Brockenbrough (P43627) for this sum paid to John F. Carpenter for hire of Tom."
