John, male (last name unknown), adult. John is mentioned in the Proctor's Daybook as being hired out to the university by owner Col. Thomas Brockenbrough (P47181), brother of Proctor A. S. Brockenbrough (P43627):

  • "Labour Acct. draft to bills payable for hire of Negroes to T. Brockenbrough for the hire of John - $70.00" (February 24, 1823)
  • "T. Brockenbrough for the hire of John - $60.00" (January 1, 1824)
  • "Labour Acct. draft to Bills Payable to Thos. Brockenbrough for hire John - $60.00" (January 4, 1825)
