JUEL ID/KEY: P47983

Elijah Battles was a freed man of colour, mentioned in records from 1825. His name comes up in the Deed of Sale between Robert Battles and John Hartwell Cocke (P43616) dated March 8, 1825.n 22 March 1825, for instance, records his having received "six hundred and sixty dollars" from Cocke, as outlined in the 8 March 1825 Deed.
