"Mr. Trotter," six photographs by Rufus W. Holsinger dated December 12, 1912.

The African-American woman (name not yet known) pictured is most likely the household nanny of the two children photographed with her, with Mr. Trotter being the head of household.

Photos of infants and their nurses were common in this time period, and Holsinger took several (see for instance, Mrs. Hugh DavisMrs. W. B. ForsytheU. H. MageeJ. E. ShepherdMargaret Lewis/Mrs. Shepherd).

Additional information about the woman in the photograph will be added as it is researched.

NOTE that the name with which the portrait is labelled (or, labelled "untitled") is not necessarily the name of the sitter(s) in the portrait, but rather the name of the person who paid for the portrait when it was taken (the date and name associated with each photograph is from the business ledgers of R. W. Holsinger). In this instance, the photo of the woman is one of several labelled, "Mr.Trotter."
