"J. P. Hawkins," a photograph by Rufus W. Holsinger taken on August 24, 1917.

The UVA Library Catalogue of the Holsinger collection states the following: "African American Family Belle Hawkins (P48328), seated front row left hand; her husband, Lewis Hawkins, standing back row, second from left hand." Additional photos of Belle Hawkins are also in the Holsinger catalogue.

It also appears that Cain Hawkins (photographed by Holsinger in a separate portrait) is in the photograph below, seated front row, second from left. T. C. Hawkins (photographed by Holsinger in a separate portrait) may be in the portrait below (both to be verified).

J. P. Hawkins may be James P. Hawkins, Jr., "mgr [manager] King Lumber Co h Frys Spring rd" (p100, Charlottesville City Directory 1914-15). In 1909, the warehouse for King Lumber Company was built (south side of Preston Avenue). The building is on the Virginia Historic Register.
